Description: This sales-oriented position requires advanced communication skills and a thorough knowledge of insurance products available through the agency. The candidate must be capable of aggressively pursuing and closing sales of new and existing commercial lines accounts while retaining a book of commercial lines business. The position follows a value-oriented selling process and offers commission-based compensation. This position can be based out of any of Marshall & Sterling's New York Downstate offices. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Achieve minimum sales and other objectives as agreed upon. Drive new business growth to maintain and grow overall accounts. Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospects to achieve sales and retention goals. Develop value propositions that leverage personal skills and tools provided by Marshall & Sterling. Collect detailed risk and underwriting information. Develop and deliver formal proposals of insurance utilizing Marshall & Sterling's online system. Follow renewal workflows to ensure retention of accounts. Refer clients and prospects to other divisions of Marshall & Sterling. Delegate client service needs appropriately. Establish and adhere to service timelines for appropriate accounts. Attend all sales meetings as required. Collect premiums per established agency procedures. Follow agency E&O and workflow procedures to document activities and prevent errors and omissions losses. Utilize marketing, loss control, and claims handling resources of the Agency to maximize service provided to clients. Promote the agency and insurance industry within the community. Obtain required continuing education credits. Maintain professional accreditation necessary to meet agency standards. Participate in continuing education programs when available. Build and maintain favorable and professional relationships with other staff members. Adhere to established employee manual policies and guidelines. Promptly report all E&O claims and potential E&O claims. Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff, and agency information. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Requirements: College degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required. Proven ability to pursue and close sales. Knowledge of insurance products. Appropriate state insurance licenses and continuing education required. Works effectively and relates well with others, including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company in a professional manner. Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs. Experience with Vertafore is a plus. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to communicate and work with diverse types of individuals and groups. High level of organizational ability with attention to detail.
